A documentary video entitled “fearless and faithful” (the title is a direct reference to an inscription of a monument on Graz Castle Mountain) shows and commentates on a journey from Graz to the border and beyond. The border situation features numerous specificities: it is a so-called European Union external border, it demarcates a language border spanning far further, and it segregates – at least, in the perception of many – the West from the East and Austria from the Balkans. The highly personal proclamations that Siegmund has collected indicate a necessity on the part of those interviewed to take a stance on the matter.
